The Macallan James Bond 60th Anniversary Release – Decades 1-6

R395,000.00 incl. VAT

The collection is an exhibition of the most iconic moments across the Six Decades of Bond; each decade encapsulated on its own packaging. Bringing to life the innovations and inventions of James Bond across the years, the packaging has been colour washed with one of the trending colours of the decade it represents.

This exceptional single malt whisky has been created by The Macallan Master Whisky Maker, Kirsteen Campbell to reflect the character of James Bond. A force of nature defined by his Scottish heritage, he carries himself with modesty and humility.

Like James Bond, the expression exudes a sense of style and maturity which has evolved over the years. The whisky is consistent within all six bottles.

Decade 1

The first decade of a collection celebrating The Six Decades of Bond. The 1960s was a singular decade for James Bond. The debut of the suave spy icon onto the silver screen in 1962 was embodied by the inimitable Sean Connery, who went on to appear in six films across the next ten years. Resting only when George Lazenby starred in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in 1969, Sir Sean was to roar back in triumph in 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever.

The pack design includes sketches from Goldfinger (1964), You Only Live Twice (1967) where Little Nellie is in a combat sequence, and the dummy jet pack worn by Bond in Thunderball (1965).

Decade 2

The second decade of a collection celebrating The Six Decades of Bond. The 1970s saw the rise of Roger Moore’s Bond. He brought different, mischievous facets and humour to the character, cheering up a somewhat dire decade.

A man for the times, he overcame filmic adversaries with elegant aplomb. While the business of making movies remained as serious as whisky distilling, he reminded us that life is about enjoyment of the finer, better still the finest, of all that it offers.

The packaging design includes sketches and storyboards from The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Stromborg’s Atlantis marine research lab, and various space station concepts from Moonraker (1979).

Decade 3

The third decade of a collection celebrating The Six Decades of Bond. In the 1980s Roger Moore’s playfulness gave way to an altogether different tone with the arrival of Timothy Dalton as the next Bond. He was frequently seen re-reading the Ian Fleming texts on set, determined to capture the author’s original character study.

Dalton’s brooding depth revealed new levels of the character. Through The Living Daylights and A Licence to Kill, Bond’s stoic integrity telegraphed the pressures of constant vigilance. He fulfilled his duties heroically, his burden willingly shouldered.

The packaging design features a logo concept art from Octopussy (1983), an A.T.A.C Operations area sketch and storyboard sequence for the film For Your Eyes Only (1981).

Decade 4

The fourth decade of a collection celebrating The Six Decades of Bond. In 1995, Bond arrived in the shape of Pierce Brosnan. He brought a new sensitivity to the classic, winning Bond formula. Productions grew more complex and the essence of James Bond’s world was relayed with devoted attention to detail.

The packaging design features a pre-title action sequence storyboard from GoldenEye (1995) and the concept for a stealth ship in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997).

Decade 5

The fifth decade of a collection celebrating The Six Decades of Bond. Leaving the 90s behind, Daniel Craig embodies the Bond of the noughties. From his first appearance in Casino Royale, never was a card game presented so stylishly and with more tension in any other film. The setting, ingredients, character and dedication to craft combine to deliver an utterly compelling result.

The packaging design features a dramatic car sequence from Casino Royale (2006), and a digitally sketched rooftop chase in Quantum Of Solace (2008).

Decade 6

The sixth decade of a collection celebrating The Six Decades of Bond. In 2012 Skyfall brought the audience back to James Bond’s childhood home, but also tragically destroyed it. Daniel Craig’s performances endeared further notes of domesticity, deep love and family.

Making the character more relatable than ever, Craig reveals a vulnerable humanity at Bond’s core, without compromising any trademark resolve or physical capability.

The packaging design features childhood home Skyfall Lodge in Skyfall (2012), and a Day of the Dead poster from Spectre (2015).
